Welcome to Mouth Heroes for Schools, our new teaching resource for children aged 5–9 years. It gives teachers everything they need to deliver engaging lessons to make sure children take good care of their teeth and mouth.
Tooth decay is preventable, yet it is the most common childhood disease. Toothie, our child-friendly spokesperson for Mouth Heroes, takes children on an exciting journey to develop important health-related life skills. By the end of their Mouth Heroes work, children will understand how to take care of their mouth, beware of certain foods that can harm their teeth and body, take greater responsibility for their own oral health and feel empowered to practice healthy behaviours – now and in the future.
The teaching resource includes
The Teacher guide is full of lesson activities and contains detailed notes on how to deliver them, including how and when to use the suite of resources provided, e.g. videos, worksheets, presentations.
Play these short, fun, cartoon-style videos that follow Toothie on a quest to promote good oral health. The Teacher guide provides lots of engaging ways you can use them in lessons.

Worksheets and certificate
The worksheets have been specially designed to enhance the lesson activities, and the ‘Good Work!’ certificate can be handed out at the end to reward children’s efforts.

There are ideas throughout the Teacher guide on how schools might involve parents and caregivers in their child’s oral health work. You can also send home this helpful checklist.
