Abstract :
The convergence of digital technologies with minimally invasive dentistry (MID) represents a transformative approach in contemporary dental care. This presentation explores how digital tools—such as intraoral scanners, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM), digital radiography, and 3D printing—enhance the precision, efficiency, and predictability of minimally invasive procedures. By focusing on tooth preservation and biologic respect, digital workflows support early detection, targeted intervention, and conservative management of carious and structural dental lesions. Evidence from recent clinical studies demonstrates that digital diagnostics enable more accurate assessment of enamel and dentin lesions, while guided workflows reduce operator variability and improve clinical outcomes. Furthermore, the use of additive technologies and high-resolution imaging fosters patient-centered care by reducing chair time and increasing treatment acceptance. This integration not only elevates the standard of care but also aligns with the core principles of MID: preserving healthy tissue, maximizing patient comfort, and promoting long-term oral health.
The presentation concludes by highlighting case studies and clinical protocols where digital dentistry complements MID techniques, paving the way for a more sustainable and biologically aligned future in restorative dentistry.
