The Oral Health Atlas illustrates oral health globally, highlights oral health as a neglected area of health for individuals and health systems, and suggests realistic individual and population-wide solutions. It is a comprehensive sourcebook with information on oral health, or lack thereof, and its relation to other factors such as government, health policies, economies, wellbeing of populations and diseases, such as HIV/AIDS and diabetes.
The atlas presents a summary of key oral health issues, addressing oral diseases, risk factors, prevention, treatment, workforce, strategies, major stakeholders, research and education, and includes an oral health score card. The atlas features a series of maps and graphics, facts and short texts, a world table, and consists of 120 pages. It is a good resource for 'mapping a neglected global health issue', learning and teaching about oral health issues worldwide.
