The 71st World Health Assembly reviewed a diverse range of health topics with notable deliberations on issues affecting healthcare professionals and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). FDI delivered statements on the preparation for the upcoming UN High-level meeting on NCDs; using digital applications (mHealth) to enhance public health outcomes; and maternal, infant and young child nutrition.

FDI calls for inclusion of oral health in global health policies at World Health Assembly

FDI’s message to the global health community: governments should include dental associations in the development of antimicrobial resistance actions plans; funding should be allocated for oral health to prevent oral disease in the context of noncommunicable diseases; and oral health should be integrated into the 2030 Agenda where FDI’s measurement tool, once developed, will be key to monitoring oral health outcomes.
