ERO holds Spring Plenary Session
The European Regional Organization (ERO) of FDI, representing 35 member associations, met for its Spring Plenary Session on 21-22 April in Geneva, Switzerland. The two-day meeting assembled over 60 delegates from across the region to discuss the most pressing issues for the oral health profession in Europe.
The Plenary Session, which was preceded by business meetings of the ERO Board and ERO Working Groups, was chaired by ERO President Dr Anna Lella. Over the two days, delegates summarized the activities of the ERO Working Groups and took decisions on future projects. They also met with FDI President and former ERO President Dr Patrick Hescot and Enzo Bondioni, FDI Executive Director. Dr Hescot presented a report on current and upcoming FDI activities and projects.
During the session, fruitful discussions took place on national reports submitted by members. It was attended by Dr Marco Landi, President of the Council of European Dentists, and Prof. Corrado Paganelli, President of the Association for Dental Education in Europe.
ERO also adopted the position statement ‘Dental Technician Profile and Relationship with the Dentist’, produced by its Dental Team Working Group. This builds on an issue already addressed by ERO in previously adopted statements about dental hygienists and dental assistants.
Founded by a General Assembly resolution in 1964, ERO was FDI’s first regional organization and has served as model for other similar organizations. As customary, ERO plans on holding its next biannual Plenary Session during FDI’s World Dental Congress on 30 August in Madrid, Spain.
