3M becomes newest member of FDI’s Vision 2020 partnership

09 March 2017 Vision 2020

3M is the latest partner to join the Vision 2020 family, an FDI initiative to raise the political profile of oral health among governments and other decision makers at both a national and international level.

“I’d like to welcome 3M to our group of Vision 2020 partners and commend them for supporting our work in oral health advocacy. Vision 2020 is our global compass, opening the way for many milestones such as our new definition of oral health, all of which are possible thanks to the continued trust and encouragement from our partners.”
Dr Patrick Hescot, President of FDI

“We are honored to join forces with FDI in promoting lifelong oral health. We see Vision 2020 as an opportunity to raise awareness on the oral disease burden and work together with FDI to prioritize oral health in the minds of public health authorities."
Jim Ingebrand, President and General Manager of 3M Oral Care

Vision 2020

Launched in 2012 to map the challenges facing the oral health community, Vision 2020 was conceived to shape the future of oral health. It was important to meet the increasing need and demand for oral healthcare; expand the role of the healthcare professional; shape a responsive educational model; mitigate the impacts of socio-economic dynamics; and foster fundamental and translational research and technology.

Today, Vision 2020 and FDI's global advocacy objectives have aligned into a common strategy to ensure that the oral health community is equipped to demand that governments address oral disease within national health action plans; and to ensure that the oral health profession is represented in the international health policy debate. 3M joins GC, Henry Schein, Ivoclar Vivadent, Morita, Planmeca, Unilever and Wrigley in the group of partners supporting FDI’s Vision 2020.

About 3M in their words

At 3M, we apply science in collaborative ways to improve lives daily. That’s why science is at the heart of everything we do. For 3M Oral Care, that means applying science in ways that transform oral health. By thinking broadly and connecting across and beyond the boundaries of science, we challenge what is and imagine what could be. Then, together with our clients and partners, we create a better future.
